Everything You Need To Know About Microsoft Azure

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing service operated by Microsoft, often referred to as Azure. it offers more than 200 cloud products and services designed to solve today’s challenges.

Azure is not only the one cloud player out in the market there are Amazon, Google, IBM also offer similar services and cloud solutions to the industries. what’s so special in Azure? Azure entered into cloud space in 2010 a 4 years later to amazon’s but azure has made significant advances over the years, it now offers a set of features and capabilities far surpassing its competitors and secured 2nd place in the cloud market by leaving 1st place to Amazon.

when we talk about basic functionalities AWS, GCP, IBM Cloud, and Azure are pretty similar, They share all of the common elements of public cloud services: self-service, security, instant provisioning, auto-scaling, compliance, and identity management.

Enterprises across the globe are realizing great success with business solutions powered by Cloud. Startups and small businesses are also moving to the cloud and adopting the cloud.

In this article we are more focusing on Azure, what is Azure cloud, what are the services and products offered by azure, where to use them, and all, this is going to be a complete guide on Azure, if like it bookmarks this page and shares with your friends.

Microsoft Azure

Azure Cloud is used for building, testing, deploying, and managing applications and services through a global network of Microsoft-managed datacenters. It provides software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and supports many different programming languages, tools and frameworks, including both Microsoft-specific and third-party software and systems.

what do I mean by software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) you may hear these names before but what do they actually mean?

There are 3 main cloud service models

  1. SaaS
  2. PaaS
  3. Iaas

Software as a service (SaaS) in cloud computing

Software-as-a-Service, or SaaS for short, is a cloud-based model of providing software to users. SaaS users subscribe to an application rather than purchasing it once and installing it. Users can log into and use a SaaS application from any compatible device over the Internet. The actual application runs in cloud servers that may be far removed from a user’s location.

A SaaS application may be accessed through a browser or through an app. Online email applications that users access through a browser, such as Gmail, and now you are reading this article on Technuws.com, technuws is also a SaaS application. technuws uses WordPress subscription and AWS for hosting to bring awesome content like these for you.

What are the advantages and disadavantages of SaaS

  • Access from anywhere, on any device
  • No need for updates or installations
  • Scalability
  • Cost savings
  • The need for stronger access control.
  • time-consuming and expensive to move to a new application if an organization’s entire database is stored within the old application
  • some cases businesses will be unable to assess their applications’ security themselves, for instance by performing penetration testing.

Platform as a service (PaaS)

PaaS One level up from IaaS, PaaS includes development tools, infrastructure, and other support for building applications.

What is included in PaaS?

The main offerings included by PaaS vendors are:

  • Development tools – source code editor, a debugger, a compiler, and other essential tools.
  • Middleware – Middleware is software that sits in between user-facing applications and the machine’s operating system
  • Operating systems – Operating systems are for to run your application
  • Database management – Easy for developers to maintain databases
  • Infrastructure – everything included in IaaS is also included in PaaS.

Infrastructure-as-a-Service IaaS

IaaS is infrastructure hosted in the cloud. IaaS includes virtual servers and cloud storage, cloud security, and access to data center resources (managed by the IaaS provider).

Now we know what is cloud, what are lass, paas, saas, there are a few more fundamentals are there like a multi-cloud, hybrid cloud I’m leaving these for your personal reference.

What we can do with Microsoft Azure

Microsoft Azure consists of numerous service offerings it’s up to the user and their application-specific to utilize the services of azure, mainly running virtual machines or containers in the cloud is one of the most popular uses for Microsoft Azure. These compute resources can host infrastructure components, such as domain name system (DNS) servers; Windows Server services — such as Internet Information Services (IIS); or third-party applications. Microsoft also supports the use of third-party operating systems, such as Linux.

Azure can also be used for hosting databases both structured and unstructured databases on to that azure used for backup and disaster recovery. Many organizations use Azure storage as an archive in order to meet their long-term Data retention requirements.

Azure cloud services

Compute – These services enable a user to deploy and manage VMs and remote application access.

Mobile/ web services – These services help developers build cloud applications for mobile devices and web, easy to build API services, and deployment of their applications

Media and content delivery network (CDN) – LIke the Cloudflare, the azure and all the cloud provides provide CDN service These CDN services include on-demand streaming, digital rights protection, encoding and media playback, and indexing.

Internet of things – These services help users capture, monitor, and analyze IoT data from sensors and other devices. Services include notifications, analytics, monitoring, and support for coding and execution.

DevOps – Azure devops services provide special tools that fast up the dev process

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning – These services help to train your ai models with user specific computational power so you can focus on your ai model rest azure takes

There are few more azure services like Mixed reality, blockchain and all.
